It is estimated that more than 1.6 million 5g base stations will need to be built in the next two to three years. At the same time, the number of 5g users and traffic demand are also increasing. It is estimated that the number of 5g users may exceed 560 million in 2023, and 5g network traffic accounts for more than 50%. The depth and breadth of 5g industry applications are further enhanced, and the total energy consumption of 5g network will continue to rise.

Therefore, on the road to carbon neutralization, ZTE has advanced into the deep-water area of the industry. By analyzing the powerpilot intelligent power saving scheme released by enterprises last year, we can feel this comprehensively and deeply.

Gu Xiang, vice president of ZTE, summarized the intelligent energy saving of this scheme as further introducing business navigation on the basis of accurate traffic prediction and KPI tuning.The first key word is precise adjustment, that is to accurately adjust the energy-saving parameters of the whole network through intelligent traffic prediction, so as to achieve self configuration of energy-saving strategy, self adjustment of parameter threshold and KPI rollback self optimization, so as to effectively achieve the balance between network performance and energy-saving effect. Its accuracy has been tested by the market. In Anhui, the accuracy of AI intelligent traffic prediction is verified to be more than 90%, enabling AAU deep sleep in low traffic periods, effectively supporting network energy conservation and efficiency improvement;The second keyword is real-time identification, which guides users to the most energy-efficient network according to the energy efficiency curves of 4G and 5g different systems and different frequency layers, so as to achieve a balance between user experience and network energy efficiency. In Xuzhou, the scale of real-time identification service navigation is commercial. On the basis of existing AI energy saving, the energy consumption is further reduced by 3 percentage points, and the daily average power saving of 4G / 5G single station is 12.5 degrees.
Gu Xiang pointed out that the current powerpilot has evolved into a multi-layer AI platform, which can not only realize the station perceived real-time energy-saving strategy arrangement, but also realize the inter station collaborative phased energy-saving strategy arrangement, with higher real-time performance, better user perception and better network performance.
Several cities across the country have accepted and launched powerpilot intelligent power saving schemes. For example, in Tianjin, powerpilot helps operators save more than 4 million kwh of electricity a year, which is equivalent to reducing more than 2000 tons of carbon emissions.
